KCR's Next Move: Divide RTC Into 4 Parts!
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 Jun 2018 6:07 AM GMTTelangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to follow the Karnataka & Tamil Nadu model to prevent the loss-making TSRTC from closure.
TRS Government is toying with the idea of dividing the TSRTC into four corporations so as to minimize the losses. Very soon, A High-Level Committee comprising of Transport Experts and Senior Govt Officials will be constituted for bringing reforms in the RTC. The Panel will study the Karnataka & Tamil Nadu model before making any recommendations.
GHMC will be made into a Separate Corporation. Undivided Districts of Ranga Reddy, Medak and Mahbubnagar will be second corporation. While Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam could be third, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad are likely to be clubbed as fourth corporation.
TSRTC debt touched Rs 3,000 crore-mark and Government has been paying Rs 250 crore interest per year. Only 11 out of 97 Depots in the state are earning profits.
