When one is in power, everything looks hunky dory and the situation looks extremely favourable. It is during this period that most of the supposed master politicians make their biggest blunders. But, KCR had got several surveys done and studied the star constellations and astrology in detail before going in for early polls. Based on these, he had played the biggest gamble of his life. He feels this is the most opportune time to go to polls.
Technically, he still has nine months to go and could have waited for at least few more months before taking the plunge. The inside story is that KCR strongly felt that any delay in calling for elections could lead to irretrievable slump in his popularity. So, he wanted to have early polls in the hope that he can now set the agenda in the state and script the story plot in politics.
How KCR will rein in the growing disenchantment in the public, which till now he had managed to suppress and subdue is very important. He would no longer be able to use the official machinery the way he used during the recent Pragati Nivedana. During his time in power, he disallowed every Opposition rally. Can he do it now? Will the strong pro-Government lobby, he so assiduously built, be able to help him now? Can he continue to have the authority in the same way he did till now? The answer to all these questions would be out very soon.
But, whatever be the outcome, this date, 06.09.2018, so carefully chosen by highly superstitious KCR will go down in the history as a major turning point in T politics. This day will be remembered for years for the biggest gamble that the smartest politician took.
