KCR has the last laugh, thwarts Rahul Gandhi's meet in OU
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 May 2022 5:03 AM GMTFinally, Rahul Gandhi may not after all visit the famed Osmania University. The Congress wanted to have Rahul Gandhi in the historic OU, which is considered the vanguard of the Telangana movement and to expose the TRS misrule. But, it appears the courts have ruled that the word of the vice-chancellor is final in the university.
The court said that it cannot give any ruling permitting the holding of the meeting in the OU. It said that the VC of the OU will have the final word. It said permission should be obtained from him alone. Meanwhile, the VC of the OU has already denied permission to the Congress event citing examinations and other important outings.
The Congress, however, feels that the VC has acted under pressure from the TRS government, which has been staunchly opposing the holding of the event. The TRS feels that Rahul Gandhi's visit would further inflame the anti-TRS sentiment, which is already there among the students and the unemployed. The Congress argues that the VC has gone on leave due to the pressure from the Government.
Now the Congress is said to be looking for another venue to hold the meeting. Sources say that with the most important outing in doubt, Rahul's whole visit too could be in jeopardy. Meanwhile, several students unions opposed to the TRS have also slammed the decision to not to allow Rahul Gandhi's visit.
