Why KCR Objects Polavaram?

In the affidavit, TRS Government informed the Apex Court that Polavaram Project not only poses threat to Bhadrachalam but also to the Coalmine Region and sought special measures to address the issue.
7 Mandals of Telangana were merged with AP as they face the threat of submergence due to Polavaram Project. KCR expressed his displeasure over the move but given up the fight in the best interest of both Telugu States.
Whereas, Odisha Government moved Supreme Court objecting Polavaram Project. Subsequently, Supreme Court directed Telangana Government to file its response. Senior Advocate Vaidyanathan, who appeared for T-Government, informed SC that Polavaram is constructed to store 50 lakh cusecs and parts of Telangana will be submerged if water reaches full capacity. He stressed the need for a detailed survey to prevent any such destruction from happening.
