KCR skips Raj Bhavans Ugadi fete, goes on confrontation mode
X
The distance between Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister KCR appears to be growing beyond redemption. Telangana CM KCR and his entire cabinet virtually boycotted the Ugadi celebrations in Raj Bhavan on Friday. Though this was expected, one felt that KCR would send some representative to the Raj Bhavan on behalf of the government.

It now emerges that the governor has sent a personal invite to KCR and his cabinet. But, they chose to stay away. At the same time, the celebrations in Raj Bhavan did not have the image of KCR in the backdrop on the stage. It had Governor and the Prime Minister. KCR was omitted. This is being seen as a tit-for-tat move by the Raj Bhavan.

However, former Maharashtra governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, BJP MLAs Raghunandan Rao, Eatala Rajender, CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Revanth Reddy, Padma awardee Darshanam Mogulaia and several other were present. The only TRS leader to attend is Kalwakurthi MLA Jaipal Yadav.

The relations between the governor and the chief minister have soured over the years. Governor's dissatisfaction over the handling of the Covid 19 in Telangana sowed the seeds of discord. Later, the Governor kept in abeyance the proposal to nominate Padi Kaushik Reddy as the MLC under governor's quota. Since then, the relations have deteriorated. KCR feels the governor is trying to emerge as an alternative power centre in Telangana. He had even done away with the joint address by the governor to the assembly this time.
