Telangana chief minister KCR has made an advice to farming community of the state. KCR asked farmers not to plant cotton in the upcoming Kharif crop season. KCR made the suggestion in view of the Centre's stance on cotton crop and prevailing drought conditions in the state. KCR forecasted a severe crisis in cotton farming front in the coming days.

KCR reminded about fluctuating prices of cotton both within the country and in the international markets. He said farmers would suffer losses if they opt for cotton crops at this stage.

KCR also pointed out that the Centre had decided to increase export duty on cotton exports making the crop further unattractive for farmers. Keeping this in view, KCR has advised farmers to go for alternative cash crops. KCR said he would be holding Collectors' conference at Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute. The Chief Minister asked agriculture officials to attend Collectors Conference on April 29 to chalk out alternative plans for farming activities.
