KCR To Take Up Filling Nominated Posts Ahead Of GHMC Polls
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Nov 2020 7:23 AM GMTThe TRS, which is rattled by the defeat at the hands of an underdog like Raghunandan Rao in Dubbak, now feels that it has to capture the GHMC elections somehow or the other. The party leadership realizes that it is important to win the GHMC to stem the tide of anti-incumbency and anger among the voters.
Internal surveys commissioned by the party leadership have reportedly shown that the party is less popular than it was in 2015. However, the party is still far ahead of the BJP and the Congress in several divisions. The party also feels that its ally, MIM, can easily win 40 seats on its own in the Old City. It can easily win up to 70 to 80 seats without much effort.
But the biggest stumbling block for the TRS is the lack of interest among the party cadre and the group infighting in the party. Massive groupism might actually see that if one person gets the tickets, the others would try to sabotage his chances. More than that, several leaders are unhappy at not being given any nominated post. They have been working for the party all these years but have never been rewarded. So, KCR is planning to appoint several such leaders to nominated posts in the coming days. These leaders would have an incentive to work for the party's victory, the party top brass feels.
So, KCR is all set to begin with the nominated MLC posts. There are three posts and he is likely to appoint leaders from Hyderabad. Also, he is working to choose the right candidates for the elections. He is also likely to convince the rival claimants to fall in line and support the official candidates.
