KCR's recent statements on party tickets stirs up hot debate in TRS
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 July 2022 7:11 AM GMTKCR's recent statement on the situation within the party is now the hottest topic of discussion in the TRS circles. Speaking at Pragathi Bhavan on June 10, KCR had said that some 10 sitting MLAs might leave the party if they are denied tickets. But, he said, he is not worried about such people. Political circles are discussing and dissecting this statement to understand the real meaning of KCR's words.
Some six months ago, KCR had said that all the sitting MLAs would be renominated in 2023. But, now he has changed tack and has said that those who are underperforming could be replaced by new candidates. He said that some 10 MLAs might leave the party if they are denied tickets but he added that he is not worried in the least about their desertion.
Political analysts say that KCR is unsure of renominating all the sitting MLAs. He also expects desertions if some are not given tickets. This, according to political analysts, show that the confidence that KCR had for some six months about his victory is no longer there and he is cagey about the emerging political situation.
Sources say that a recent IPAC survey commissioned by him has shown that at least 40 of his MLAs were facing severe anti-incumbency. He has already talked to these MLAs and directed them to improve their image in the respective constituencies.
He is also worried about the dissidence among the ticket aspirants. He knows that there is intense tussle between the TRS candidates who lost their elections in 2018 and the winning Congress candidates who later joined the TRS. Keeping all these in view, KCR has made these comments, say analysts.
