Kerala Too Cuts Salaries Of Government Employees

Whenever there are salary cuts or deduction in the emoluments, the Left parties and their unions would be in the forefront of agitation. They would be among the first to slam this and demand that the salaries be paid in full. The Left did the same in AP as well as Telangana.

But now, the Kerala government, the only Left Government in the country, too has decided to cut salaries. The Kerala government too has decided to defer six days salary every month for five months. It has also moved to effect a 30 per cent cut in the salaries of the ministers and MLAs. To provide legal basis to their move, the Kerala government has also brought an ordinance to this effect. In fact, Kerala Government wanted deferment in paying salaries for five months. When the high court wanted a legal basis for this, it has decided to bring an ordinance. Interestingly, the Left unions are silent on this decision.

Meanwhile, Kerala has registered 495 Corona positive cases so far. Currently, there are 133 active cases in the state. The police are implementing the lockdown very strictly in the state to prevent the spread of the virus.
