Key Mahabubnagar Leaders Find Themselves At Political Crossroads

Several leading politicians in Mahabubnagar, who have had their time under the sun and had played a key role in shaping local politics, are now suffering political unemployment. They are finding their political careers at the crossroads.

Take for instance Gurunath Reddy of Kodangal. This leader has strong grassroots connection and had won from Kodangal in 1977, 1983, 1989, 1999 and 2004. He had lost to Revanth Reddy in 2009 and 2014. Later he joined the TRS and helped KCR in defeating Revanth Reddy in 2018. Despite his significant contribution, he has not been given any post by KCR. In fact, he eyed DCCB chairperson's post, but he was kept on the sidelines. Now, sources say that he is looking towards the BJP to reinvent himself.

Similarly, TDP senior leaders Kothakota Dayakar Reddy and his wife Seetha Dayakar Reddy have played a key role in the politics of Mahabubnagar. Reddy was a three time MLA while Seetha Dayakar Reddy was a former MLA and a former ZP chief. Both have been defeated consecutively and are looking for political rehabilitation. Sources say that both the leaders are set to take a very crucial political decision soon. Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, another key leader from the undivided Mahabubnagar district, is still with the TDP. But, sources say that he too might switch sides and contest again.

If these four key leaders start their political lives afresh by switching sides, the politics would get very interesting in Mahabubnagar.
