Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Bill, which paves the way for formation of Telangana state, has been cleared by the Union Cabinet after a marathon discussion Friday evening.

The bill is cleared by Central Cabinet with no big changes and decided to send it to President and Parliament in next one or two days and the bill will expected to table in Rajya Sabha on next Monday

The cabinet has approved 32 amendments; many of them are minor changes.

Here are some key points of the bill

*The new state will have 10 districts—Hyderabad, Adilabad, Khamman, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Warangal

*Contrary to previous reports of making Hyderabad as Union Territory, Cabinet has decided to name Hyderabad as the joint capital for both Telangana and Seemandhra for a period of 10 years.

*Governor will control the law and order of Hyderabad.

* Special package for Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra

* Rejection on Rayala Telangana proposal

* Financial assistance to develop capital of residuary state of Andhra Pradesh

*Six Telangana Mandals which effects due to Polavaram would be merged into Seemandhra

Cabinet is contemplating to send this Bill to President for his approval. If all goes well, the T-Bill will be placed in Parliament next week.

The Congress-led central government is determined to push the legislation through before this session of Parliament - the last before the national election - ends on February 21.
