Khammam continues to be a headache for KCR

One district that is turning out to be a huge headache for the ruling TRS is Khammam. Intense groupism among the party's leaders is taking a toll on the party and is giving sleeplessness to the TRS state leadership. Though several attempts have been made to set the things right, some problem or the other is cropping up in the district.

There is intense groupism in the Paleru constituency what with former minister Tummala and the sitting MLA Kandala Upender Reddy at the loggerheads. Reddy defeated Tummala in 2018 election on a Congress ticket and later joined the TRS. As a result, Tummala group is viewing every move of Kandala with suspicion. Recently, the Rythu Bandhu samitis were restructured in Paleru. Tummala group views this as an attempt to preempt Tummala's influence in the constituency.

In Wyra too, TRS leader Madan Lal who lost the MLA election and Ramulu Naik, who defeated him as an independent is at loggerheads. Naik later joined the TRS and ever since a war of one-upmanship erupted between the two. In Yellandu constituency, winning MLA Haripriya and defeated TRS candidate Koram Kanakaiah are at war with each other. Haripriya too had joined the TRS after winning over Kanakaiah.

Sources say that same situation exists in other constituencies too. Over all, Khammam seems to be suffering from a battle for supremacy between the old-timers and new entrants into the party. Despite several attempts, the party leadership is unable to address the issue.
