Will This Cricketer-Politico Win The Game This Time?

Once upon a time there was a cricketer who became a politician. He came into the field at a time when the match was being lost and the team was in totters. Instead of playing aggressively, he played defence shots. And when he should defend, he tried to score over the boundary and got out. He then blamed everyone except himself.

This politician cricketer is none other than the last chief minister of undivided AP - Kiran Kumar Reddy. He played defensive till the state was bifurcated and when the Telugu interests were to be protected, he tried to hit six by forming Jai Samaikyandhra Party. He blamed everyone except himself and went silent for all of four years.

Now, the same retired cricketer-turned-politician wants to come back into active politics. He wants to rejoin the Congress. But, many in the Congress are not too happy at this. What was Kiran Reddy's contribution to the party all these years, they ask. Was he not responsible for weakening the Congress and why did he form Jai Samaikyandhra Party, they question. Many Congressmen are also asking as to what Kiran Kumar Reddy will do now? They feel he has no backing even in his constituency. Naturally, they are not exactly welcoming Kiran Kumar Reddy.
