Know the asking rate of one vote in Munugode?

When money power enters the fray, then democracy turns into a hypocrisy. The same is happening in poll-bound Munugode. It is becoming increasingly clear that money power is actually purchasing votes. Both the ruling TRS and challenger BJP are leaving no stone unturned in garnering votes. If ources are to be believed the asking rate for a vote in Munugode has gone up exponentially.

From Rs 500 per vote, the asking rate in AP and Telangana has gone up to Rs 2000 in the 2019 election. The height was during the Huzurabad bypoll, when the parties reportedly paid up to Rs 5000 per vote .Thus a family with four votes would end up with at least Rs 20000 by the time elections are over.

The situation has come to such a pass that the people of neighbouring mandals staged dharnas demanding Rs 5000 despite the fact that they are outside the Huzurabad jurisdiction. These non-voters wanted the money simply because the people of the neighbouring villages were getting it. Thus, Huzurabad bypoll is by far the costliest election so far.

But, now it emerges that the asking rate is around Rs 40000 per vote. Reports from Munugode suggest that the voters are demanding this amount to cast their vote in support of a political party. With the battle becoming quite prestigious, all the three main parties are pulling all stops to win the elections. The parties, according to sources, have in fact promised to pay the amount for each vote.
