Know which is the smallest district in AP now?

Vizag is very important for YS Jagan. In his scheme of things, Vizag is the administrative capital of the state. He has been talking of shifting base to Vizag. But, Vizag is among the most affected in the reorganisation of the districts. Today, Vizag is one third of what it used to be till the other day.
In fact, it is the smallest district in the state now. Earlier, the population of the Vizag district was around 60 lakh. But today, it is around 18 lakh. What's more, it has just 11 mandals and six assembly seats. The area of the newly carved out district is just 928 sq. km.
Interestingly, tourist paradise Araku and Paderu, known for its waterfalls are now not part of the Vizag district. The district now has no rural area. It is essentially an urban district. The whole of the district is in the district. The whole district could be covered in just a matter of a couple of hours.
Vizag has lost a lot of its assets to Anakapalli district and most of its forest regions to the Alluri Seetharama Raju district. Mallikarjuna, who was the collector of the undivided district continues to be the district collector of the truncated Vizag.
