Former Indian Skipper Virat Kohli is a popular player in world cricket. He had set the standards so high that experts believe he has the ability to break the massive record made by God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar. Virat Kohli has a good record in India and overseas as well. His popularity has been increasing over the years.

As an example of his popularity, Virat Kohli achieved a massive milestone. Run Machine Virat Kohli had clocked 200 million followers on Instagram. Virat Kohli emerged as the first celebrity from India to do so.

At the global level, Virat Kohli joined the elite list along with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The two legendary players are enjoying over 200 million followers.

This is indeed a special achievement for Virat Kohli. The ex-skipper took to social media to share his happiness. In a short note, Virat Kohli said that he is happy and thanked his Insta family for this achievement.

On the professional front, Virat Kohli is no longer the skipper of the team. Before the start of the 2021 World Cup tournament, Kohli said that he will step down as the leader.

Sadly, Kohli could not step down as the World Cup-winning skipper with India leaving the tournament midway. In the initial matches, India lost matches and by the time it started winning matches, it was too late.

Given the track record he has, everyone thought that India would have split captaincy like Australia and other nations. Sadly, this did not happen with the cricket governing body in India Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sacking him as the 50-over skipper so that India will have a single captain for the white ball game.

Run Machine Virat Kohli decided to leave the captaincy of India for the longest format after India suffered a Test series loss in South Africa. When team India under his captaincy toured in South Africa, fans pinned high hopes that they would script history.

Sadly, India could not take forward the good start they got by winning the first Test match. As a result, India lost the series and Kohli left his captaincy.
