While Sachin Tendulkar took 164 matches to reach the milestone, Kohli achieved it in just 101 games. Sachin had eight centuries in the ODIs against Sri Lanka and Virat Kohli has nine centuries.
Virat Kohli scored more than 12,500 runs in the ODI format and became the fastest batsman to reach the milestone. Earlier Sachin Tendulkar held the record and he reached that in 310 innings. But Virat Kohli took just 257 innings.
Virat Kohli is also very close to another massive record. The Run Machine just needs 180 runs to enter the elite list of highest run scorers in the ODI format. Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Mahela Jayawardene are in the top five places on the elite list. Virat Kohli now has 12584 runs in the format. He might enter the list as India will play a few ODI games in the coming months.
