Konda Surekha to be Congress candidate from Huzurabad?

The Telangana Congress has finally taken the plunge. The party has reportedly decided to field veteran politician and former minister Konda Surekha as its candidate for the Huzurabad byelections. This has been decided at a meeting of the Congress leaders held on Saturday.
Konda Surekha has considerable influence in Warangal and Karimnagar and has been associated with the politics in the Huzurabad religion for quite some time. Surekha too is from the BC community. With this, all the three candidates in the Huzurabad battle are from the BC community. Eatala is from the Mudiraj community, while TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas is from the dominant Yadava community. Surekha is from the weaver community.
The Congress feels that Surekh will make a dent into the weaver community vote, for which KCR has specifically brought former TDP state president L Ramana. Surekha will launch her campaign soon from Huzurabad, Congress sources say that Surekha, a known fighter, is likely to garner a significant chunk of votes in Huzurabad. With the three main parties declaring their candidates, the Huzurabad bypolls has entered into a very interesting phase.
