By: Tupaki Desk | 1 Nov 2013 2:19 PM ISTMovie Review: KRRISH 3 (By Hapra)
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Vivek Oberoi, Kangana Ranaut, Priyanka Chopra and others
Story-Screenplay-Direction: Rakesh Roshan
Producer: Rakesh Roshan
Release date: 1st November 2013
Till date Indian films never produced any superhero who could stand on silver screen for years. But Rakesh Roshan is making experiments through his son Hrithik Roshan to create an unforgettable experience with his movies. Following Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish, here goes Krrish 3 (dont panic about the sequel number, Rakesh has his own reasons).
The CONTENT
Dr Rohit Mehra (the old Koi Mil Gaya Hrithik) and his son Krishna (Hrithik) and daughter in law Priya (Priyanka Chopra) live happily in Mumbai. Dr Mehra works for Indian Research Institute, while Priya continues her job of TV journalist, while Krishna shuffles between various jobs though he appears whenever crisis occurs in Mumbai under the disguise of black-masked, black dress super hero Krrish. A crisis breaks out in Namibia due to a deadly virus created by a half paralyzed evil scientist, a wheel chair bound Kaal (Vivek Oberoi). His evil assistant Kaya (Kangana Ranaut) actually injects the virus into people and later Kaals pharmaceutical company supplies antidote to the same virus minting millions of money. However, when the mutants team of Kaal lead by Kaya do the same in Mumbai, Dr Rohit Mehra discovers the antidote and saves Mumbai. Villain Kaal worries how come an antidote is invented for the virus as it cannot be done without his blood. So, without Kaals DNA how come Rohit and his son Krrish actually create the antidote and save Mumbai? While finding this, Kaal earths out a shocking past and one knows what the climax is going to be.
The EFFORT :
On-Screen:
Hrithik Roshan excels in all the three roles given to him with ease. As an old, introvert and little bellied Dr Rohit Mehra, he blows our mind. At the same time his stunts as Krrish and Krishna impresses one and all as usual. However, there are no big dance moves from Hrithik if there are people who want that regular entertainment. Else, there is no mole on Hrithiks part.
Apart from Hrithik, we will only see the roles of Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi, as rest of the cast are completely unknown faces. Priyanka is regular with her work and there is nothing much she can perform in the role of Krrishs wife. Vivek Oberoi will not stun either with his acting or with his mannerism, but some known face as a villain with super powers is something new.
However it is Kangana Ranaut who walks away with accolades again. She is evil, negative and cruel but at the same time gets transformed as good, loving and positive lady. Her stunning change of expressions in every scene makes audiences love that Kaya character. Though there is one irrelevant song for Kangana in the flick, her glamour is a treat to watch. While walking out of theatres, you will remember only Hrithik and Kangana.
Off-Screen:
Director Rakesh Roshan always caters to the needs of B & C centre audiences but never delivers any new story. He did the same again. By carefully mixing the needed masala around a super hero, making him desi Super Hero, Rakesh succeeds in delivering one power packed product again. But brickbats will be strong this time as he copied all the powers of all super heroes around the world.
Second hero of this flick is surely Visual Effects team that delivered their best to make this desi flick look at par with some Hollywood counterparts. Shahrukh Khans Red Chillies VFX and Pixion delivered all this stunning work for the film to make audiences clap and whistle. Though continuity is missing in many sequences, there is a sense of reality to graphics, and India should be proud of that.
Art director and Sound Mixing guy should be appreciated as art seamlessly integrates with the theme of flick, while sound design gives goose bumps to audiences in theatres.
The PLUSES:
· Hrithik Roshan
· Stunning Visual Effects
· Second Half
The MINUSES:
· Routine, Predictable Story
· Dragged Climax Fight
BREAKDOWN:
First of all, Rakesh Roshan should be praised for coming up with same Super Hero again and again to continue trend of sequels to characters. But what is primary is a stunning story that can spell bound audiences, which Krrish 3 lacks. Rakesh gave a miss to story but focused more on creating some wow moments with his super hero Krrish. For regular Hollywood movie visitors, Krrish is none but a cocktail of Spiderman, Superman, X-Men and other powerful super heroes. He has the powers of all, which in the other way makes this character less interesting. But kids and families will go merry as Rakesh delivers the message that there is super hero in everyone.
While audiences are going merry with concepts like Avatar and Gravity, one wonders why Rakesh Roshan missed out some basics. He blatantly copied X-men mutant characters but havent made fair used of them. He would have avoided some regular stock scenes like family meets, lovers at ice cream parlour kind and injected some hair rising action sequences. Though the aeroplane-stopping sequence and climax are a bit interesting, they are not innovative. Suppose in Spiderman we have some unforgettable ones like train chase, sand man and church-bell fight sequences. As our audiences are watching such Hollywood flicks more often, Krrish will not give some wow moments to them but still he excites them throughout. As such effort is a rare in Indian cinema, we could really cherish the good-side of this sci-fi movie.
The FINISHING Line: A worthy watch with few uneasy moments!
