The private member bill moved by Congress Rajya Sabha MP KVP Ramachandra Rao seeking Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh will come up for discussion in Rajya Sabha on July 22nd. AP Congress senior leaders have been meeting various political parties for their support to the demand of Special Status.

When the delegation led by AP PCC Chief Raghuveera Reddy met Karunanidhi's Daughter Kanimozhi in New Delhi on Thursday, She responded in a positive manner and assured that DMK would vote in favor of them if an voting takes place on the Bill.

Congress High Command issued whip asking its MPs to be present in Parliament on Friday for the voting on Private Member Bill. NCP Chief Sharad Pawar has already declared that he is willing to lobby for favorable voting on Private Member Bill. Even CPI Leaders Seetharam Yechuri and D Raja were in favor of the Bill.

Meanwhile, KVP has written to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to approve the Private Member Bill without voting. He also mentioned about the promises made by Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley at the time when Telangana Bill was passed in the Upper House.
