By: Tupaki Desk | 29 Jun 2017 7:44 AM GMTSri Lankan Pacer Lasith Malinga faced a one year ban from playing cricket for allegedly speaking to press without prior permission of the cricket board and making disrespectful remarks against Sports Minister.
Recently, Sri Lankan Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara asked Over-Weight Cricketers to get fit by undergoing military training after the Team missed the opportunity to be in Semi Final of Champions Trophy by dropping too many catches in the match against Pakistan. He even dared to say such criticism isn't unexpected when 'a monkey is occupying a parrot's nest'.
The 3-Member Disciplinary Committee appointed by Sri Lankan Cricket Board found Malinga guilty of breaching his contract. Initially, A One Year ban was imposed. However, The sanction is suspended for 6 months apart from cutting off 50 percent match fee from his next ODI Match.
