Laxman to be T BJP president for another term?
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 Nov 2019 3:58 AM GMTAfter a lot of exercises, the central leadership of the BJP, it appears, seems to think that giving another extension to Dr K Laxman would be good. So, in all likelihood, Dr Laxman is likely to be re-appointed as the president of Telangana BJP. The formal appointment is expected in the second week of December.
Dr Laxman has already led the party for two consecutive terms and is likely to get another extension. Sources say that the BJP national leadership had initially studied three or four names, including that of Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay, who defeated TRS biggie Vinod Kumar and Dharmapuri Aravind, who defeated KCR's daughter Kalwakuntla Kavitha in Nizamabad. Even MLC Ramachandra Rao's name was also considered. But, finally, the national leadership felt that giving an extension to Laxman is the best option. It feels that Laxman has been quite pro-active in the party affairs of late. He had brought in at least 18 key leaders from various parties, including the TDP and the Congress, and has been quite active in the RTC stir and the protest against the Intermediate marks scandal.
Dr Laxman, who is now not even an MLA as he had lost the election from Musheerabad in 2018 assembly elections, could be nominated to Rajya Sabha, according to sources. In fact, Laxman wanted to contest for Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat, but had to opt out at the last moment as the national leadership felt Kishan Reddy would be a better candidate. Kishan Reddy today is the union minister of state for Home affairs.
