Due to various reasons, Tech giants and other firms are sacking their employees. Fear of possible recession and the efforts of the companies to reduce costs are the main reasons behind this. The situation is such that even the global tech giants are also not sparing the employees and sacking them.
Global search engine Google also could not retain the employees. Recently Google management removed as many as 12,000 employees working across the branches saying that it is part of cost-cutting efforts. Employees at the Zurich offices of Google expressed their anger at the company by staging a walkout.
Recently Google CEO Sundar Pichai hinted at another phase of sackings as the company is looking at making the workforce small and crisp. A few former employees recently alleged that Google is also cutting short the perks and benefits. Food was cut and the working hours of the cafes were also reportedly reduced.
Amid this, Google mentioned shocking news in a report it filed and said that CEO Sundar Picchai was paid as much as about $226 million in 2022. In the filing, the Alphabet company said that the money Sundar Pichai received includes stock awards of about $218 million. The money he received raised many eyeballs.
Google has been saying that it is focusing on cost-cutting and employees are being removed at regular intervals. On the other hand, the company paid $226 million to the Chief Executive Officer. If we draw a comparison between Picchai and normal employees there is a huge gap.
