By: Tupaki Desk | 6 Feb 2021 11:33 AM GMTThe tussle between the Andhra Pradesh government and Andhra Pradesh's State Election Commissioner(SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar over the Panchayat polls continues.
As a new development in the Local Body polls row, YSRCP leader, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has allegedly threatened the collectors and returning officers that they will be backlisted if the Panchayats were not held unanimously.
Reacting to this, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar assured the employees that without SEC's permission no one can take action against the employees involved in the Panchayat polls.
Clearing their fears on the Covid-19 situations in the state, Nimmagadda said given the Coronavirus situations the elections will be held between 6: 30 AM to 3:30 AM.
On the other hand, the SEC has also reportedly directed AP director general of police, Gautam Sawang to confine Minister Peddireddy to his residence till the polls are held.
According to the election schedule, the Panchayat elections will be held in four phases. The first phase of the Panchayati polls will be conducted on the coming Tuesday.
