Leander Paes Announces Retirement

"I want to announce 2020 as my farewell year as a pro tennis player," Paes wrote in a statement, which he posted on his twitter handle.
Paes won a bronze medal for India in singles in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and in men's doubles, he has won French Open and US Open thrice in 1999, 2001 and 2009 and 2006, 2009 and 2013, respectively. He won the Australian Open doubles title in 2012 and the Wimbledon once in 1999. In mixed doubles, he won the Australian Open in 2003, 2010 and 2015, the French Open in 2016, Wimbledon in 1999, 2003, 2010 and 2015 and the US Open in 2008 and 2015. In mixed doubles, he won the Australian Open in 2003, 2010 and 2015, the French Open in 2016, Wimbledon in 1999, 2003, 2010 and 2015 and the US Open in 2008 and 2015. Paes won a total of 54 doubles titles in his career.
