Temple city Kashi or Varanasi has a great significance in Hindu mythology. Those who have faith in Hinduism believe that all their sins would be washed away and they will not get another birth if their ashes were immersed in the holy river Ganga.
Recently, people from other faiths are also following the practice of immersing the ashes. As an example of this, the ashes of a foreign man were immersed by his friend, who is a big name in the cricketing world.
Legendary Australian player Steve Waugh made his way to the temple city and immersed his late friend's ashes. The player said that following the last wish of his friend, he had done this. The pictures of Steve Waugh immersing the ashes went viral on social media.
However, there is a twist to the photo. It is not a recent one and the picture is five years old. Back in 2017, the Former Aussies cricketer reached Varanasi so that his deceased friend's soul can rest in peace.
Talking about his friend, the Kangaroo player said that his friend Brian has no one to look after and he has only one wish which is to immerse his ashes in the holy river Ganga.
