Lobbying Intensifies For 7 Council Vacancies In TRS
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 April 2021 5:42 PM ISTSoon after the Nagarjunasagar bypoll, another kind of election fever is set to grip Telangana. Come June 16, the term of seven MLCs in the legislative council will expire and there would be elections for those vacancies. Six of the seats will fall vacant on June 3, while one will fall vacant by June 16.
All the seven seats are those of the ruling party and the ruling party is set to win all of them in view of the road roller majority it has in the state. But, who will keep their post and who will replace whom is the question. The term of Legislative Council chairperson Gutta Sukhender Reddy, vice-chairperson Neti Vidya Sagar, chief whip Bodakunti Venkateshwarlu, former deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari, former minister Fariduddin, Akula Lalitha and nominated MLC Prof. M Srinivasa Reddy will expire by June 16. There are indications that Fariduddin, M Srinivasa Reddy could be given a second term, while Lalitha could be replaced by Tula Uma, who is considered close to KCR.
Both Gutta and Neti, who have had two terms each, could be replaced and Koti Reddy, who was an aspirant for Nagarjunasagar TRS ticket might be accommodated. Bodakunta too could be replaced by former council chairperson Madhusudhanachary. The fate of Kadiyam Srihari too is said to be hanging in the balance. It remains to be seen who will be lucky and who will end up being a loser.
