Lok Satta, AAP To Come Together Soon?
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Feb 2020 9:58 AM ISTIs there going to be some understanding between Lok Satta and the Aam Admi Party in the Telugu states? If AAP sources are to be believed, Kejriwal, who is flush with the massive success in Delhi assembly polls, wants to extend his influence in the rest of the country. As part of it, he is looking for credible faces. Lok Satta, whose ideology is similar to that of AAP, is amenable to join hands with the AAP. So, something significant might come out soon, sources say.
Interestingly, immediately after the 2015 success of AAP in Delhi, JP went over to Kejriwal and broached the subject of merger of Lok Satta into the AAP. However, Kejriwal then did not evince any interest. So, the talks did not make much headway. But, now it appears that Kejriwal wants a bigger footprint and feels that the Lok Satta, which still has considerable image among the middle class, could be useful. "Wait for some time. You will hear a big news," said an AAP leader.
The Lok Satta got considerable number of votes in 2009 elections, with several candidates getting up to 10 per cent votes. JP had even won as an MLA. However, the party had lost its steam by 2014 elections and the formation of separate Telangana.
