Lokesh Case Gives Momentum to Vendetta Politics Argument?

As a big blow to former Cabinet Minister Nara Lokesh, who is touted to lead the grand old Telugu Desam Party in the coming days, an old case is haunting him and he was made to appear before the court in connection with the case. Earlier today, Nara Lokesh reached the temple city Vijayawada for the same purpose.

The case deals with Nara Lokesh’s visit to the ACB court back in 2020 when the party senior leader and former Minister Atchennaidu was arrested in connection with the ES scam. Given th Covid scare then, a case of violating the Covid norms was slapped against the ex-Minister.

We all know how harsh the Covid pandemic was for two long years. So filing a case against ara Lokesh is not wrong. But targeting him by leaving the other YSCP leaders is not accepted here. During the lockdown, many YCP Ministers and leaders held massive yatra and political events.

A few legislators held the rallies to distribute the medical and other supplies. After the rally, a few officials tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. The inauguration events also attracted people in big numbers. The current Cabinet Minister and the then MLA Roja inaugurated a bore pump and a big crowd was present at the event.

Handing over the benefits of the schemes was also used as a milage by a few leaders. With the lockdown coming into effect, the Andhra Pradesh government distributed supplies to the people. Even that programs were held as events where beneficiaries and people showed up in big numbers.

While the reason is not known, the rest of the leaders who happen to be the members of the ruling party managed to attract the case while the opposition leader was slapped with the case on the grounds of violating the Covid guidelines and norms.

The Telugu Desam Party leaders have been alleging that the YSRCP government is doing vendetta politics by filing cases against the opposition leaders despite them not doing any wrong. The particular case of TDP National Secretary Nara Lokesh adds fuel to the argument that the YSRCP is targeting its opponents.
