Lokesh wants to contest the lost constituency
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Oct 2021 7:34 AM GMTSeverely condemning the alleged attacks against the Telugu Desam Party(TDP) offices, the opposition party had announced a 36-hour protest and the party chief Chandrababu Naidu held the protest at the Mangalagiri party office. A few party leaders reached the protesting site to stand in solidarity with the party chief.
Former Information Technology(IT) Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) General Secretary Nara Lokesh who addressed the crowd and the TDP supporters at Mangalagiri party office made a big announcement on the Assembly constituency he would contest from in the next general elections.
Lokesh, who is believed to run the party as the chief said he would contest from the same Mangalagiri constituency where he lost the 2019 elections and said he will win the elections and give the win to the party cadre. One has to admit that Lokesh took a bold step in selecting Mangalagiri as the constituency.
Nara Lokesh had contested from the Mangalagiri constituency in the Guntur district in the 2019 elections. However, he lost the elections to Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, the YSRCP candidate.TDP cadre was in dismay with Nara Lokesh, who is termed as the future party supremo losing the elections.
Nara Lokesh had breathed fire against the YSRCP against the attacks on the party offices and alleged that the cops are backing the ruling party and said without the support from the cops, the YSRCP supporters cannot attack the party office. They attacked the offices when no one was present, I dare them to attack now, Lokesh said.
On the flip side, a First information report(FIR) was registered by the Guntur Police against Nara Lokesh and a few others on the grounds of reportedly attacking a Police Inspector at the Mangalagiri Party office, Telugu Desam Party(TDP) headquarters. The cop alleged that a few people surrounded him when he reached the office after the attack and asked for his identity. Despite showing his identity, he was not released by the leaders.
The opposition party had brought a new demand that the TDP party office issue should be given to the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) for a detailed probe.
