Loylists, old-timers skipping TRS Atmeeya Sammelanams?
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 March 2023 3:46 PM ISTThe ruling TRS has begun the process of organizing "Atmeeya Sammelanams" across the state to mobilise support for the impending elections. This programme has been conceived by KCR himself and the aim is to re-activate all those who are currently inactive in the party. The MLAs have been given the responsibility of organizing the meets.
However, political watchers say that old-timers, Telangana activists and those who braved lathis during the Telangana agitation, are found missing from these meetings. For instance, in the Atmeeya Sammelanam organized at Nakrekal, the most of the old timers were present. These were familiar faces during the struggle for Telangana.
When contacted, most of them said that they were not even aware of these meetings. They added that they did not get any invite from the party leaders. What more? Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah, a Congress man-turned-TRS MLA, has reportedly ignored these leaders.
Many old timers said that they would soon organize another Atmeeya Sammelanam to show their strength. Lingaiah stirred a hornet's nest when he said that the Dalit Bandhu would be given only to the TRS workers and activists. He said others would not get any benefits from the TRS government's schemes.
