DMK Chief M Karunanidhi and Murasoli daily editor S Selvan were summoned by a Sessions Court in Chennai in connection with a defamation case filed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Principal Sessions Judge N Audhinathan issued summons directing former CM Karunanidhi to appear before the court on January 18th, 2016 for allegedly publishing defamatory article in DMK's mouth piece Murasoli in November regarding the 4-year rule of AIADMK. Even the editor of the daily was asked to be present in the court on that particular day.

Coming to another defamation suit filed by Jayalalithaa, The Judge issued summons to Tamil magazine 'Ananda Vikatam' Editor R Kannan and its Printer Madhavan for allegedly tarnishing the image of the Chief Minister with a defamatory article. They were asked to appear in the court on February 1st, 2016.

'Ananda Vikatam' published an issue dated November 21-27. AIADMK found it objectionable and moved the court seeking action against the editor & printer.
