The Madras High Court Today ordered the Principal Secretary of the Election Commission of India to appear before it on October 6th in connection with thumb impression of former CM late Jayalalithaa on poll documents when she was undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital.

DMK Candidate P Saravanan moved the High Court seeking cancellation of the election of AIADMK Candidate AK Bose in Thirupparankundram by-election held last year raising doubts over the thumb impression of Jayalalithaa as party chief in his poll documents. Jayalalithaa had undergone Tracheostomy and hence she wasn't in a position to use her right hand. So, She offered her left thumb impression in the Form B submitted to EC by AIADMK Candidate AK Bose. While Jayalalithaa's Thumb Impression was attested by Madras Medical College Doctor P Balaji, Apollo Hospitals Doctor Babu K Abraham signed as a witness.

Now, Principal Secretary of Election Commission will depose before High Court to explain the left thumb impression of Amma is in line with the provisions of the Representation of Peoples Act and EC norms.
