Maggi declared as Misbranded by Telangana

Telangana State Food Laboratory given Nestle a clean chit after testing the content. The Institute of Preventive Medicine found out that lead content in Noodles samples are 1.929 parts million which is below the permissible limit of 2.5 percent.
However, The State-run Laboratory found the existence of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in Maggi Noodles and hence it will be treated as 'misbranded'. It comes under the violation of Food Safety & Standards Regulation 2011 as Masala in Noodles contain MSG. While the label on Maggi packets show there is no added Monosodium Glutamate, There is actually MSG in the lead content.
Telangana state has already banned Maggi. Use of MSG in food content leads to abdominal pain, headache and weakness.
Post the Maggi controversy, Commission for Protection of Child Rights directed Telugu States principal health secretaries to test noodles brands of all the companies available in the market and submit a report by June 16.
