By: Tupaki Desk | 6 Nov 2020 6:51 AM GMTDays ahead of the Diwali celebrations, the Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has taken a call on required measures to combat the pandemic spread.
Given the pandemic situations, the state government has appealed to the public to celebrate the festival by avoiding cracker bursting, as a bid to contain air pollution and noise pollution.
The state government has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the instructions to celebrate the festival as cracker free.
Earlier, Odisha and Rajasthan government have imposed a ban on crackers bursting on Diwali to cap the virus spread. The other day, Hyd has also come up with restrictions over cracker bursting.
Despite managing to restrict the fresh Coronavirus infections, India is still fighting the novel Coronavirus. Earlier experts have warned that India could see a second wave during the festival season.
During the Dussera season, the fresh Coronavirus infections have not increased. But there are chances of the second wave are very high as the air pollution and noise pollution on Diwali could make it even deadly.
On top of that, Maharashtra is the top worst-affected state in the country with the pandemic outbreak. The state has the highest number of Covid-19 infections and fatalities.
