Maharashtra's political 'threesome over?

Is the 'political threesome' between the Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress and the Congress Party over? It appears so. The three parties that are in the ruling alliance are speaking in different tones. The Congress has said that it will contest the next elections on its own and that there would be no alliance whatsoever. But, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna has said that the Shiv Sena will pair up with the NCP in Maharashtra's interest.
But the NCP seems to prefer middle path. It says that any decision on whether the Congress will fight alone or in alliance will be decided by the Congress High Command and not the local leaders. All these only go to show that all is not well in the ruling alliance in Maharashtra. The Congress has been sulking for quite some time over the way both the Shiv Sena and the NCP are garnering all the plum posts, leaving chaff for it. Though it has taken up the issue with the Central leadership, the response has been lukewarm.
The BJP has clearly indicated that it would fight the elections on its own. This means there is no possibility of a BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in the next assembly elections. For the BJP, a divided opposition is a boon. It stands a better chance of forming the government on its own. The Maharashtra politics are getting more and more interesting by each passing day.
