Maharashtra reports record single-day infections since January, lockdown likely to be imposed!

Adding more troubles to the state, Maharashtra witnessed not less than 43,183 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which pushed the total caseload in the state to 28,56,163.
In the last 24 hours, the state witnessed 249 deaths, the record single-day casualties since October 2020, and the total casualties rose to 54,898. The fresh infections reported in 24 hours are also the highest single day since the pandemic hit the state in January last year.
The fresh infections are not coming down despite partial lockdowns being in effect in the state. On top of this, people are floating the norms, making things even worse for the state.
Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said, if people won't follow the norms and restrictions imposed by the government, then they will be left with no other option except for going for another stricter lockdown.
Uddhav Thackeray had even directed the concerned officials to come up with fresh Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the restrictions to impose a new lockdown to restrict the fresh infections and fatalities.
With the state reporting the record fresh infections since January, the state government is likely to impose a stricter lockdown and the formal announcement is expected to be out today.
