The Maharashtra government headed by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has decided to give a nod to the alcohol sales in the states which were halted across the nation due to the nationwide lockdown imposed in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The decision was taken by the Uddhav Thackerey government to boost the economy in the state which went through severe losses with the lockdown norms being active as people are not supposed to step out of their houses.

Many states are thinking of going ahead with the liquor sales, but Maharashtra took the first step to resume the liquor sales. Though liquor will be made available, people should follow social distance and wear medical masks at the liquor shops.

Karnataka decided to start the alcohol sales too after the second phase of lockdown gets lifted on May 3rd. From the fourth of May liquor will be made available in Malls, and liquor shops.

It has been widely reported that the Karnataka state is thinking to restart the activities in commercial and Industrial activities leaving the COVID-19 Containment zones.

Earlier, the Karnataka government has eased the restrictions in the areas except for the Red Zones so that the public will not face any issues. We might get more information on this once PM Modi gives clarity on lockdown.
