Main Accused In Tollywood Drugs Case Surrenders To ED Officials!

Days after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took over the alleged 2017 Tollywood drugs case, the probe is going on at a brisk speed. The Tollywood celebrities, who are said to be involved in the case were summoned to appear for questioning. Director Puri Jagannath became the first celebrity to appear before the ED.
As a big development in the sensational case, the main accused Kelvin Mascarenhas became approver and handed himself over before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Wednesday. This is said to be a big breakthrough in the case.
If we have to take anything from the media reports, the ED officials have unearthed major transactions in Kelvin Mascarenhas's bank accounts. After finding the major transactions in his bank accounts, his accounts were frozen by the officials.
The celebrities in Tollywood were summoned to appear for questioning in the case based on the information he shared with the ED officials. This is the reason why, the celebrities were asked to give details on their bank transactions from 2015, media reports claimed.
The sensational case busted in 2017 when the main accused Kelvin Mascarenhas was arrested by the customs officials. Two others were also arrested by the officials along with Kelvin Mascarenhas. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) wing of the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department had probed the case initially and cases were also filed. The SIT had given clean chit to the Tollywood celebrities in the drugs case after its probe.
The case came to the limelight again after the ED entered the scene and served notices to the celebrities. The ED had summoned 10 Tollywood celebrities to present before the officials for questioning in the case. The ED is said to have gathered details on the alleged money laundering angle in the case and wanted to dig deeper into the case.
The ED had also asked the Telangana Excise Department officials to submit the Whatsapp chats data of the Tollywood celebrities who were linked with the drugs case. It has been widely reported that the customers of the drug peddlers include the bigwigs in various fields and IT employees.
