Governments give a helping hand to a few films by exempting them from paying taxes if the film tells us a rich story about the region or the kings from the region. Many films were given tax exemptions. Balakrishna's 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni and Anushka Shetty's Rudhramadevi were also given the exemption.

As Rudramadevi talks about the story of the warrior queen from the Telangana region, the state government gave a tax exemption. Talking about Balakrishna's film, the KCR government and the then Andhra Pradesh government led by TDP exempted it from paying taxes.

Now the same tax exemption is said to have brought a big headache for the makers of films. A PIL asking why the makers did not reduce the movie ticket fares despite getting tax exemption was filed in the Supreme Court as per the media report.

It has been widely reported that a body that goes by the name Movie Viewers Association moved the Supreme Court. Hearing the petition, the Supreme Court is said to have served notices to the makers of the films and the governments as well.

While the makers were directed to deposit the money they got from escaping the tax with the government, the governments were asked why the tax exemption was given, media reports said.

However, the makers and the governments are yet to confirm this. Usually, when such news happens, the makers take to social media to give clarification or clear the air. But no tweet was made as of now.
