Liquor Case: Midnight Arrest Of Malladi Vishnu

Former Congress MLA Malladi Vishnu the accused number 9 in the spurious liquor case in which five people died and over 20 fell ill after consuming liquor at Swarna Bar last month was arrested a short while ago by SIT. Vishnu and his brother were arrested and they were kept in Krishna Lanka Police Station
Vishnu was questioned for more than 12 hours yesterday and 10 hours today.After questioning long hours police reportedly came to conclusion about the case and took him into custody.
It may be recalled here that over two dozen people who consumed liquor at M Bar within Swarna Hotel in Krishnalanka in Vijayawada fell ill and five of them died while undergoing treatment. Excess usage of Methyl Alcohol on that fateful day killed eight.The hotel and the bar are owned by a close relative of Vishnu while the Congress leader owns eight other wine shops in the city. As per reports bar has four partners and one of them is Vishnu's 75 years old mother, Tripura Sundari and rest of the three are Vishnu's relatives.
Vishnu has gone absconding after the incident on December 7.
