Manik replaces Manickam: Will T Congress stop infighting?
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 Jan 2023 5:50 AM GMTIn the Congress Party unit of Telangana, Manickam Tagore is replaced by Manik Rao of Goa as the party affairs incharge. Will this change end the deep differences within the party in Telangana? Will it bring a rapprochement between TPCC chief Revanth Reddy and the party seniors, including V Hanumanth Rao and Uttam Kumar Reddy?
Manickam was largely seen as a Revanth Reddy man and many seniors were upset at the way he was handling things in the party. They rose in revolt and the high command had to send a senior like Digvijay Singh to douse the fires. Soon after Digvijay's visit, the change in the incharge has come. This is being seen as a victory of the seniors.
The question now is whether Revanth Reddy will try to take along the estranged seniors with him? Will he mend his ways and try to be friendly with him? Will he now consult party seniors like Jagga Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Jeevan Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy? Insiders say that Manik Rao would give more importance to the opinions of the seniors in the party.
Many see the latest change as a balancing act. While keeping Revanth Reddy in the driver's seat, they want to ensure that the locally powerful seniors are not completely alienated. The party leadership clearly wants to strike a balance between both the rival groups ahead of the 2023 elections.
