Mantri touches the feet of Raja!!
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Nov 2019 5:51 AM GMTWho said the era of Rajas and royals is gone? Who said this is democracy and that today's ministers are more powerful than yester year kings? This incident of Monday will show that kings still do matter and the ministers prostrate to them even if the former is younger and the latter is a septuagenarian.
On Monday, former king of the yester-year principality of Gwalior and Congress politician Jyotiraditya Scindia came to his home town after a long time. A large number of his supporters, followers flocked to the railway station to welcome him. They all chanted slogans of "maharaj ki jai" Even as this was happening, Madhya Pradesh minister Pradyumna Singh Tomar came and prostrated before a much younger Jyotiraditya. He touched Jyotiraditya's feet with his forehead and chanted "Maharaj ki Jai." This act has left everyone surprised as Tomar is a minister and Jyotiraditya is not even an MP. He has been defeated in the recent Lok Sabha elections from Gwalior.
Jyotiraditya, who comes from Gwalior principality is never addressed by name his constituency of Gwalior and Guna. He is addressed as Shrimant, Raje or Maharaj. He wields considerable influence on the voters of these two Lok Sabha constituencies.
