Media Denied Entry Into Parliament Central Hall
X
The mediapersons are now putting up with the new set of regulations in Parliament these days. With the new parliament construction going on full throttle, the entrance has been changed. The people now have to enter from the Parliament Annexe.

Similarly, the majestic statue of Mahatma Gandhi too has been shifted from the portico entrance to facilitate the construction of the new building. A lot of pipelines, cables and other such infrastructure has been dug up. To add to all these, the Central Hall of Parliament, which is the chief hub of all political activity will be accessible only to the sitting MPs. Thus the media, which used to gather lot of news inputs from the gossip in the central hall, would be deprived of the facility. This decision has been taken in view of the Covid restrictions.

In view of the Covid restrictions, the government did not renew the passes for many of the journalists. As a result, the media presence too has been greatly reduced. Covid protocols are being cited as the reasons for this. Those above 60 years of age have not been issued new passes. As a result, a lot of scribes are finding it very difficult to cover the Parliament's proceedings.
