MLA beaten up in Assembly for hosting Beef party
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Oct 2015 6:45 AM GMTJammu and Kashmir MLA Engineer Rashid was assaulted by BJP Legislators in the state Assembly on Thursday, just a day after he hosted a beef party opposing proposal of ban on cow slaughter.
BJP Lawmakers began thrashing Rashid soon after he reached the Assembly. If not for Opposition MLAs who came to his rescue, The Independent MLA could have been seriously injured. This incident took place even before the Assembly proceedings began. The footage is now being aired on the News Channels in the state.
Jammu and Kashmir CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed condemned the attack on Rashid. He even asked Senior BJP MLA Nirmal Singh to apologise for his objectionable behaviour. Even though he apologised, Mr.Singh continued to found fault with Rashid's beef party.
Supreme Court on Monday suspended the order of Jammu and Kashmir high court to enforce a ban on beef sales in the state. Instead, It ordered the formation of a special bench to solve the issue.
