The hashtag #ModiDisrespectsTricolor has been topping the Twitter trends since Friday.
Apparently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a dinner to Fortune 500 CEOs on Thursday at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. When Super Chef Vikas Khanna told Modi that he wants to present a flag crafted by Children of Smile India Foundation to US President Barack Obama, PM autographed it!
A controversy erupted after Vikas Khanna showed the Modi autographed flag to the media persons. As per Para 2.1 sub para 6 & Para 3.28 of Flag Code 2002, Any kind of lettering on National Flag comes under misuse and the guilty will be sentenced to 3 years in jail under PINH Act 2003.
Finally, Vikas Khanna himself clarified its not a National Flag but a differently abled girl from his Foundation attempted an artistic hand impression on a light brown piece of cloth. He particularly mentions it doesn't even have the three colors of the National flag and more like the insignia of the MakeInIndia. So, People who pointed fingers at Modi need to realize its just a memento not a tri-colour National Flag.
