NDA-led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have pretty good chances of emerging victorious after picking Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind, a Dalit, as its Presidential Candidate. Not many leaders of the Opposition Parties have the courage to oppose NaMo's choice as it may portray them as anti-Dalit.

Congress and Left Parties responded cautiously to NDA's Presidential choice. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar expressed happiness over NDA's decision to elect a Dalit as President. Even BSP Chief Mayawati said it's really tough for her party to oppose a dalit unless Opposition fields another dalit leader as Presidential Candidate. Whereas, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee opined there are much bigger Dalit Leaders than Ram Nath Kovind in the country.

NDA wishes to reach out to dalits and weaker sections with the appointment of Ram Nath Kovind. Ruling Parties in Southern States are in favour of NDA. TRS in Telangana, TDP in AP and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu extended their support already. Even YSR Congress will vote for NDA.

Opposition Parties led by Congress will be meeting on Thursday to take a final call over fielding it's candidate. Chances of 71-Year-Old Kovind becoming the next president look bright as of now.
