BCCI's decision to not hold the IPL matches in Hyderabad did not go well with cricket fans and Hyderabad cricketers. Requests made by Telangana IT Minister KTR went in vain with the BCCI not picking Hyderabad as a venue.

Former India captain, Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President Mohammed Azharuddin in his recent interview spoke about the same issue and said the HCA has requested the BCCI to hold matches in the city. We did the best to get the IPL matches to the city, he said.

The BCCI replied that Hyderabad was not picked as the venue for the IPL as two venues were already picked from southern states, the Hyderabadi player said.

Earlier, he supported KTR's apparel to BCCI to hold matches in Hyderabad. The HCA President said Hyderabad has all the facilities to conduct the matches.

In the interview, the HCA President had rubbished the rumors of the committee not working on the development of the board. He said the committee is working really hard for the development and they cannot do anything without funds. We cannot do magic to develop the board at once, he said.

He urged everyone to not believe the reports on HCA and said despite the pandemic outbreak, the HCA conducted several tournaments like the Under 19 tournament and other leagues.

Several media reports claimed that Mohammad Azharuddin had some issues with the members of the HCA which is why the HCA is unable to take forward the developmental programs.
