By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Jan 2021 11:44 AM GMTIndia fast bowler Mohammed Siraj played a key role in India's historic 2-1 victory in Test series against Australia. He made his Test debut on the tour and emerged as the leading wicket-taker from the Indian camp.
The 26-year-old fast bowler had lost his father in November 2020 when he landed in Australia. He was given the option of returning home but the pacer decided to stay back with the team for the series.
After 63-day long and painful wait, the young cricketer finally visited his father's grave to pay his last respects. After landing in India on Thursday, Siraj did not head home but went to the graveyard in Khairtabad to meet his departed father.
Siraj picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in the 4th Test and said his focus was on accomplishing his father's wish.
Mohammed Siraj bagged 13 wickets from 3 Tests at an average of 29.53 and only Australian bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took more wickets than Siraj in the series.
