Recently, Nigeria had announced an indefinite ban on microblogging site Twitter after the social media giant had deleted a tweet made by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on the grounds of violating its policy.

Reacting to the development, former United States President Donald Trump hailed the move and maintained that more countries should ban Twitter and Facebook. He issued a statement in this regard.

“Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President. More COUNTRIES should ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing free and open speech—all voices should be heard. In the meantime, competitors will emerge and take hold,” Donald Trump said in a statement.

Adding further, he opined that, perhaps he should have banned the microblogging site Twitter during his tenure of four years as the President.

Such a response from Donald Trump is expected as he was banned from using social media platforms. Twitter announced a permanent ban on Donald Trump after the Capitol Hill violence that had rocked America.

Coming to the other social media giant Facebook, the platform announced a ban on the former President for two years. After two years, a decision on whether or not to revoke the ban will be taken by a committee.
